As the debate over immigration reform heats up, relatively little attention is paid to the places people come from. What’s happening in these home towns and villages? Why do people leave? What are the impacts of migration on these hometowns? What role do migrants living in the United States play in shaping the future of their hometowns in Mexico? This blog will explore and comment on these matters, with a focus on what a committed group of migrants and their friends in Napa, California are doing to improve conditions in the rancho (village) of Los Haro, Zacatecas.
